Capitol Move

New year, new job for so many people in New York politics. As is traditional, there has been a lot of shuffling around in recent months. The latest announcement comes from Ed Wassermann, former chief counsel to the state Democratic conference from 1990 to 2006. He has launched a new Albany-based government relations firm called Wassermann Government Strategies (WGS).  Previously, Wassermann was a partner in the lobbying firm of Marsh, Wassermann & McHugh and chief operating officer of the government relations firm The Elk Street Group. Wassermann’s new venture will represent nonprofit and for-profit interests, with a focus on civil, criminal and human rights issues. — Liz Benjamin
